Winged monkeys
The winged monkeys are fictional characters introduced in the 1900 children’s novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by American author L. Frank Baum. These creatures are described as jungle monkeys equipped with bird-like feathered wings. They are intelligent, playful, and capable of speaking English.
Initially serving under the control of the Wicked Witch of the West, the monkeys later come under the command of the protagonist, Dorothy Gale. During the story, they use their ability to fly to transport Dorothy to two distant locations.
