White Rabbit

The White Rabbit is an anthropomorphic character who first appears in the opening chapter of Lewis Carroll’s 1865 book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Dressed in a waistcoat and muttering about being too late, he serves as the catalyst for the story when Alice follows him down a rabbit hole into Wonderland.

Throughout the narrative, the Rabbit has several interactions with Alice, including an instance where he mistakes her for his housemaid, Mary Ann, leading to her becoming trapped in his home after she grows too large. He later reappears in the final chapters of the book serving as a herald-like figure for the King and Queen of Hearts.
