The Persian is a major character in Gaston Leroux’s 1910 novel The Phantom of the Opera. Known to Erik as the daroga, he serves as the primary narrator regarding the history of the Phantom, with his personal memoirs featured across five chapters of the book.

Beyond his role as a chronicler of these events, the Persian is notable for being considered Erik’s only friend.
