Sonya Rostova

Sofya Alexandrovna, known as Sonya, is a character featured in Leo Tolstoy’s 1869 novel War and Peace, as well as in Sergey Prokofiev’s 1955 opera and Dave Malloy’s 2012 musical adaptation, Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812. She is the orphaned niece of Count and Countess Rostov.

While she is sometimes referred to as Sonya Rostova, the novel does not clarify whether this is her actual surname.
