Petya Rostov

Petya Rostov, born Pyotr Ilyich Rostov, is the youngest member of the Rostov family in Leo Tolstoy’s 1869 novel War and Peace. Although he begins the story as a minor character, his role becomes increasingly significant toward the end of the book when he joins the Russian army to defend against the French invasion of 1812.

During the final stages of the novel, Petya participates in an attack on a French corps, where he is fatally wounded. This event is considered one of the most famous scenes in classical Russian literature, alongside the death of Prince Andrei Bolkonsky.
