Depiction of Munchkin

Munchkin

The Munchkins are natives of the fictional Munchkin Country in the Land of Oz, first introduced to modern audiences in L. Frank Baum’s 1900 novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. In the story, they welcome the character Dorothy Gale to their city. They are described as being the same height as Dorothy and exclusively wear shades of blue, which is their favorite color and the official color representing the eastern quadrant of Oz.

Beyond their literary origins, the Munchkins have become a common fixture in various forms of media. They have appeared in numerous films, including the 1939 adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, as well as in various comedy acts.
