Mr. Fezziwig

Mr. Fezziwig is a character from the 1843 novella A Christmas Carol, created by Charles Dickens to serve as a contrast to Ebenezer Scrooge’s attitudes toward business ethics. As the man to whom Scrooge was once apprenticed, Fezziwig represents the antithesis of the older Scrooge in his appearance, actions, and characterization.

He is portrayed as a jovial and anachronistic man who is notable for wearing a large Welsh wig. Through these traits, Dickens establishes Fezziwig as a distinct foil to the miserly nature of his former apprentice.
