Jim

Jim is a central character in Mark Twain’s 1884 novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. A black man fleeing slavery, he embarks on a journey down the Mississippi River in the antebellum Southern United States.

He is accompanied on this raft trip by Huckleberry Finn, a 13-year-old white boy. Huck joins Jim on this voyage despite the constraints of the law and his own conventional understanding of the world.
