Gandalf

Gandalf, also known as Gandalf the Grey and later Gandalf the White, is a wizard and a member of the Istari order. He serves as a protagonist in J. R. R. Tolkien’s novels The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, where he acts as the leader of the Company of the Ring.

The name Gandalf was taken by Tolkien from the Old Norse Catalogue of Dwarves found in the Völuspá.
