Edmond Dantès

Edmond Dantes is the protagonist and title character of Alexandre Dumas’s 1844 adventure novel, The Count of Monte Cristo. Initially an intelligent, honest, and loving man, he becomes bitter and vengeful after being framed for a crime he did not commit.

Once he gains his freedom and immense wealth, Dantes dedicates himself to rewarding those who assisted him and punishing the individuals responsible for his years of suffering. Throughout the narrative, he operates under several aliases, including The Count of Monte Cristo, Abbe Busoni, Lord Wilmore, and Sinbad the Sailor.
