Depiction of Dodo

Dodo

The Dodo is a fictional character who appears in the second and third chapters of Lewis Carroll’s 1865 book, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The character serves as a caricature of the author himself.

A popular but unsubstantiated theory suggests that Carroll chose the Dodo to represent him because of his stammer, which would lead him to accidentally introduce himself as Do-do-dodgson.
