Catherine Earnshaw

Catherine Earnshaw is the female protagonist of Emily Bronte’s 1847 novel, Wuthering Heights. As one of the two surviving children of Mr. and Mrs. Earnshaw, the original tenants of the Wuthering Heights estate, she is a central figure in the story.

The narrative focuses heavily on the star-crossed love between Catherine and Heathcliff. Throughout the novel, she is frequently referred to as Cathy, a name used particularly by Heathcliff.
