Alyosha Karamazov

Alexei Fyodorovich Karamazov, commonly known as Alyosha, is the twenty-year-old youngest brother and the central protagonist of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s 1880 novel, The Brothers Karamazov. Throughout the text, he is referred to by various affectionate nicknames, including Alyoshka, Alyoshenka, Alyoshechka, Alexeichik, Lyosha, and Lyoshenka.

The author identifies Alyosha as the hero of the story in both the preface and the opening chapters. Although Dostoevsky intended to write a sequel detailing the remainder of the character’s life, he passed away shortly after the publication of the original novel.
