Melanie Joy

Melanie Joy is an American social psychologist and author who is primarily notable for coining the term carnism. She is the founding president of the nonprofit advocacy group Beyond Carnism, which was previously known as Carnism Awareness and Action Network, and she is a former professor of psychology and sociology at the University of Massachusetts Boston.

As an author, Joy has published the books Strategic Action for Animals, Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows, and Beyond Beliefs.
